Dan Greene is perhaps this country's best-known portrait painting instructor. Greene has shared his approach with
thousands of artists through his nationwide portrait workshops and videos.
A former instructor of painting at the Arts Students League and the National Academy of Design, he is author of
the best selling books, Pastel and The Art of Pastel, which has been published in six languages.
Notable among his subjects have been Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt, William Randolph Hearst, astronaut Wally Schirra,
author Ayn Rand, composer Alan Menken, Dave Thomas and Bryant Gumbel. His paintings can be found in over 500 collections
including the Metropolitan Museum of Art. His work has been featured in American Artist, The Artist's
Magazine and International Artist.
The Portrait Society of America is a not-for-profit organization
directed by a governing board of artists dedicated to
fostering and enhancing the practice, aesthetics and applications of traditional,
fine art portraiture.
Membership is open to all individuals with an interest in the art of the portrait.
