2013 International Portrait Competition
The International Portrait Competition is open to all artists, members and non-members. The top twenty finalists will be invited to exhibit their selected artwork at the prestigious The Art of the Portrait® conference in Atlanta, GA. There,
finalists’ work will be judged by a panel composed of a Board Member, Portrait Society Member and an Invitational Judge. In 2012, the jurors were: Daniel E. Greene, Mary Whyte and Brandon Brame Fortune (Director of Painting and Sculpture, National Portrait Gallery). Awards will be given for each of the 20 top artworks, with more than $60,000 in prizes distributed at The Art of the Portrait® conference Gala Banquet, Saturday, April 27, 2013 in the at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead.

Entry Criteria: All entries must meet the following:
Must be the artist’s own original design and concept Created independentlyCompleted after March 2010For 2D the longest side should not be larger than 70”The 70" size restriction applies to unframed (*size for 2014 will be 62")For 3D the piece should not be over life-sizePortrait Society Board Members and Gold Medal recipients are ineligible
Artists that win the Grand Prize are prohibited from entering for three full yearsFaculty donating their time to teach at The Art of the Portrait are eligible to enter the competition.
In addition, no photography, electronic, computer generated art, art done in a class, workshop or under supervision is eligible. All other media is accepted and encouraged, both two-dimensional and three-dimensional. Participants are eligible to submit up to three artworks for consideration.
Only electronic submissions will be accepted. Up to three digital image files can be submitted. Note: Sculpture entries can provide up to 3 views of the same piece. Call the Portrait Society office for sculpture entry link. Electronic submissions through the Portrait Society of America’s secure site can be uploaded through the March 4, 2013 deadline.
