The Cecilia Beaux Forum

About the Forum

In 2005, the Portrait Society of America instituted the Cecilia Beaux Forum as a committee to address particular considerations faced by women in the arts. The purpose of the Cecilia Beaux Forum is to strengthen the role of women artists by providing programs and resources to enhance the quality of, as well as the public's knowledge and appreciation of, their work.

The Forum works through three committees:

Literature Committee: Collecting, writing, and publishing articles on historical and contemporary women artists published in The Art of the Portrait Journal, International Artist Magazine, and other publications

Exhibitions Committee: Hosting exhibitions and competitions, including the flagship Inspiring Figures 2010

Mentoring Committee: Creating mentoring opportunities for women artists by fostering relationships between established and emerging artists in a 9 month program

We also host an annual meeting at the Art of the Portrait conference with guest speakers and distribute an eNewsletter.
